The show theme: "Form/Emptiness".
The "emptiness" in my forms is abundant, glorious, eternal
"nothingness" in Zen or Buddhism sense. Celebration of life.
My birdcage-like pieces are "perches for the soul",
something of a silent "bell", and also my own version of
small family (Buddhist) alter you'd still find in many
homes in Japan. I've never had birds, but birdcages have
always been like windchimes to me, and they are the
perfect vessel in which to enshrine the spirit of joy,
peace and most of all, a sense of complete freedom
I want to embody.
Hand mirror pieces - without mirrors - are also the
embodiment of my inspiration.
They reflect only the sound
of heaven within every one of us.
